Smith/Hallemann Partners is an assemblage of several partnerships that own, invest in and operate commercial real estate in Nashville, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. Operating through a Nashville-based company, Real Estate Opportunity Partners, LLC, the firm is managed by Tom Smith and Terry Hallemann. Smith/Hallemann Partners and its affiliated or related partnerships have ownership interests in over 2 million square feet of commercial property. Smith/Hallemann Partners and its operating partner, Real Estate Opportunity Partners, LLC were formed to facilitate acquiring, owning and operating a diversified portfolio of income-producing properties.
Tom Smith
Tom Smith is a principal in Smith/Hallemann Partners. He was previously Chairman of Mission Property Company of Nashville, a large multi-faceted commercial real estate company that was acquired by Cassidy Turley in 2000. Mr. Smith previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of Highwoods Properties, Inc., (NYSE:HIW), a publicly traded REIT. Prior to his tenure at Highwoods, he was a co-founder and Chairman of Eakin & Smith, Inc., (“ES”) a commercial real estate leasing, management, development and investment firm. Eakin & Smith merged with Highwoods in 1996 in a $100 million transaction. Prior to this merger, Mr. Smith was a general partner in numerous partnerships in Nashville, Tennessee which had ownership interests in over 2 million square feet of commercial properties.
Terry Hallemann
Terry Hallemann is a principal in Smith/Hallemann Partners. Mr. Hallemann is a principal of Eastbay Capital, LLC, the general partner of the SCH Fund, LP, an investment partnership formed in 2002 with over 50 investors. Eastbay Capital underwrites and selects all investments for the Fund, provides quarterly investment reporting, provides direction to asset managers, manages distributions and all tax matters for Fund/investors. Prior to his affiliation with Smith/Hallemann, Mr. Hallemann was a senior lender with First Union Capital Markets, arranging millions of dollars of financings for commercial real estate throughout the United States.
